BCAM Blog is One Year Old!

We are officially one year old now - wow! And to celebrate, Felicity is going to take a little time to learn how to improve this blog and its searchability, readability etc. for our readers. That from one who dislikes reading instruction manuals!

From you, our readers, we'd like to know what ideas you have and what you'd like to see as part of our blog. Don't be shy - send us the info either via e-mail or leave comments here for us to read and implement.

Thanks!

PS To begin with, I have added a counter. Not sure if it will be the one we stick with yet but for now, it's there to help us gauge readership.

I came across your blog while doing research for my undergrad thesis on the commercialization of breast cancer. Now that I've completed it, I find I'm looking for a different kind of information. I'd like to see more about cosmetics that are safe, such as the Guide to Less Toxic products (which doesn't appear to have been updated in a number of years), rather than focusing mainly on what is bad. So we shoudln't use this item, what would be a good substitute? Maybe some recipes on making cosmetics at home as well?!?

I love the idea of making cosmetics at home and that is definitely something that we are working on. One thing you can do is to hold your own home healthy cosmetics party - http://www.safecosmetics.org/action/houseparty.cfm. We are working on doing this in the fall.

Also, I'd suggest that you add your own recipes to a wiki website that already has an established Handmade Cosmetics category. It is at: http://www.wikihow.com/Category:Handmade-Cosmetics (wikiHow) it is a resource edited by anyone, so I'd encourage everyone to stop by and start filling it up with cosmetics recipes that we can make at home. This is self-empowerment at its best. :)
